Perfectly Imperfect Family Portraits

Well, it’s been a whole year since we have taken family photos. The kids are growing up so fast, life is constantly changing and we are loving every minute of it. Well, almost. every minute… sometimes the up all night with crying baby sucks, or the occasional diaper blowout,  but I wouldn’t change our life for anything in this world. Life is such a roller coaster but motherhood is mostly like a roller coaster in the dark while balancing on one foot. Sometimes you have no idea whats gunna hit cha. There’s ups and downs, back-sets and catalysts, there’s so many giggles and so many tears. {mostly happy ones} So every year I vow to take family pictures, even when they in their teens and its not longer ‘cool’ to be seen on mom’s blog. My heart is so full and Aga captures where we are in our life so beautifully. I mean that sincerely. You can tell in the pictures. Poor Ellie was so over it by the end but Aga went at her pace and we got some really awesome candid shots. We also had to bribe the kids to stand still toward the end. You can see them staring at each other smirking cuz mom and dad let them have candy while we took pictures. We finished the day off with some Mexican food, good conversation & a trip to the toy store. Hope you enjoy our family portraits {and VLOG}. Continue reading Perfectly Imperfect Family Portraits

My Go To | The Everyday Outfit

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

If you are a busy bee like me, you need those go-to outfits. The ones that are brainless and work for almost any occasion. The kind that you mindlessly throw on & still look put together. This outfit couldn’t be more basic & couldn’t be more versatile. It’s simple, high waisted jeans, a white tank, and some booties. DONE. The great thing about this outfit is you can dress it up or dress it down. Continue reading My Go To | The Everyday Outfit

Cedar & Sage Trading Co.

cedar and sage tc cactus logo1In case you haven’t already heard, my best friend & {long lost} twin, Kristen and I have started our own company. Cedar & Sage Trading Co, a beautiful and eclectic online women’s boutique. Our vision; contemporary meets bohemian. We want to encourage and inspire women everywhere to go on adventures, wander, travel, experience life and everything it has to offer. God gave us one life, and it’s up to us to make it the BEST we can. And for us that means, dressing well, eating healthy, traveling often, thanking God for all we have, and giving back to those less fortunate. After many years of joking and dreaming, we officially took the plunge. As we dove head 1st, we fell in love with our dreams all over again. But this time we aren’t dreaming. It has become our reality. She spends her days at her corporate job and getting her MBA, while I stay home and raise my two babies. We couldn’t be more different in our educational background and career choices. I come from esthetics, beauty, sales and retail management. She comes from graphic design and business. What we both lack, we make up for it in each others experiences. Like we always joke… much like coffee & cream or donuts & frosting, we are just better together. After some careful thought we landed on “Cedar & Sage”. Cedar being steady and firmly planted, Sage is healing and cleansing. Continue reading Cedar & Sage Trading Co.

Woodland Family Portraits

Aga Jones does it again… her photography skills not only prove to be way above par, but her easy going attitude is what I vibe with most. We had our family portraits done on Valentines Day. What better way to express your love for your family than to take beautiful pictures? We aren’t the mushiest of couples, but this sweet little shoot is pretty darling.

We let Levi run around the botanical gardens to run off some energy before he had to stand still and smile. Well, trying to make a 2.5 year old stand still is hard enough, BUT trying to make him smile on cue seemed impossible. But we still had fun with it. When he was running off that toddler energy, that I am so envious of, he made an epic memory. His first real “boo-boo”, blood and all. This was was a real ‘gusha’ as Tony called it. {Remember he has that awesome Kiwi accent} He fell in the gravel, so needless to say, he was a little shaken by the blood & bits of rock sticking out of his knee. But he barely cried. My little champ. Luckily Nana came to the rescue with her handy first aid kit. He loved getting the little “sticker” on his ouchie. In 5 minutes the entire memory of his banged up knee was forgotten. Somehow, he managed to keep his white shirt clean AND keep his bow tie on. For me, that’s a WIN! For our shoot he was sporting a pretty cool flesh colored band-aid. Which is a cool memory to have. Valentine’s Day 2016 was Levi’s 1st real ‘gusha’ & our 1st real family portrait. {ps: you should grab a snack, this is a long one…} Continue reading Woodland Family Portraits

Style watch: Thigh high boots

style watch thigh highFall is the king of style… in my opinion. Fall brings coats, boots and fashion. A much needed change from the carefree style of summer. No matter your shape or size, thigh high boots are a look everyone can rock. These boots should be in everyone’s closet. Finding the perfect pair of boots can be hard but well worth the wait if you find your “sole” mate.

July Favorites

jULY FavoritesJuly has been a hot one in San Diego. As I quickly approach the 7 month mark, my belly is as big as every and my tolerance for heat is declining. We have had a very busy July, as I am sure most of you have. July is always full of birthdays, weddings, parties and other festivities. We were in Las Vegas for a few days visiting Tony’s family who was here from New Zealand. Then we took them to LA to explore Venice beach and the Santa Monica Pier. A total of 6 very hot days, WITH our two year old, while pregnant. I am happy to report Levi did so well, I held up alright and Tony had a blast. Most of the trip we found ourselves in the pool or somewhere cool.  I am happy to be back at home where it is a few degrees cooler. These few little items have kept me sane over this last month. Everything from beauty, food, fashion, etc… Enjoy.

Maternity Street Style

On this rainy Memorial Day, wmaternity street style logoe drove home from San Diego in style. After a long weekend away celebrating my hubbies birthday, I was ready to leave the hotel in sweats. My belly is getting to the point where my normal clothes are just too tight & my maternity stuff just isn’t quite right. I headed to target to pick up some comfy basics. Little to my knowledge, I ended up in the pajama department. I instantly fell in love with these Xhileration jogger pants. The elastic waist band is perfect for every day errands, big meals & a growing belly. Then I picked up the “Merona Favorite tank” in a white/heather grey stripe. Since Target was having one of their many sales, I got out with only paying about$20 for both. What a steal. AND I will be able to wear these throughout my prstreet sytle pinpregnancy and long after. After I get back to normal weight they will probably look more like harem pants, but hey… I consider that a two for one! If you saw me at home in the joggers and the tank, you would think I was still in pj’s. With a few small accessories you can make lounge wear into some killer street style. I added my favorite H&M biker jacket and my comfy white chucks. This monochromatic look can look really effortless but really put together when you throw your hair into a sleek bun & add a statement necklace. I opted out of the jewelry department since my little man is all about yanking it off me. But whether you hmaternity jogger pantsave a bun in the oven or not… this simple street style look will look good for any casual day. And who says you can’t leave your house in pajamas? I DO.

Tag me in your street style looks, I would love more ideas on how to dress my bump.
