Heavenly Banana Bread

My family is banana crazy. Banana in our protein shakes, banana yogurt, banana on ice cream, banana on everything BUT our favorite is banana bread. {Which we call “Banana Cake” in our house} Since this recipe doesn’t need yeast, I guess it is more of a cake. BUT it taste like the most heavenly banana bread you ever did taste. Our son is allergic to soy, coconut and nuts. So I am forced to make a lot of things at home, which is better for us anyway. This recipe is so simple & if you use all organic ingredients then you can feel a little less guilty about eating a whole loaf in two days.

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon table salt

  1. Preheat the over to 325º F. Then butter a 9 x 5 x 3″ loaf pan .
  2. Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, mash the bananas with a masher or fork. Then mix in the milk and cinnamon. Set aside.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  6. Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until combined. Add dry ingredients, mixing just until flour disappears.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean. Remove bread from pan, invert onto rack and cool completely before slicing. Set aside to cool on a rack for 15 minutes.
  8. Enjoy!

This recipe is from Food Network… I love using this site as my cookbook. So many great recipes. The only thing I change in the recipe; I add more banana & I take out my bread when the center is still a little wet. We like our banana bread moist, not dry. Then we pan fry it so the outside gets a little toasty.

When it’s just about done, the smell fills the house. Levi always goes, “Mommy! Banana cake Banana Cake!!!” and as soon as it comes out of the oven I slice it up and hand it out. And I’m always wishing I made two loafs. This bread is so yum. Give it a go and let me know if you liked it! Happy Baking!

As babies our cell turn over rate is every 14 days? It slows to every 21-28 days as a teenager, then every 28-42 days from your adult years then dramatically slows when you hit 50. After the age of 50 it can be as slow as every 50-84 days!  Now, if you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s the deets… Your cell turn over rate is normally an average of how old you are and how well you take care of your skin. Your body creates new skin cells every couple of weeks {depending on your age} it is important to get rid of the dead skin that lays on the outside. This is why we need to EXFOLIATE. Can you imagine the build up of dead skin if we didn’t get rid of it?   Continue reading Milk n’ Honey Face Mask

Natural Makeup

Ever feel like putting on a full face of makeup is a chore? You would rather gamble with the fact that you may or may not see someone from high school. Just praying that no one notices you when you look like you stumbled into Target because of some sleepwalking episode. I’m guilty. Actually I did it today. For those days that you don’t wake up in that sleepy perfection where your hair falls just right and you have no purple bags under your eyes… I got chu’ covered girl.

I have a few products and techniques that leave me feeling fresh, light and confident. Which is what we all want to feel right?
