Perfectly Imperfect Family Portraits

1211201656

Well, it’s been a whole year since we have taken family photos. The kids are growing up so fast, life is constantly changing and we are loving every minute of it. Well, almost. every minute… sometimes the up all night with crying baby sucks, or the occasional diaper blowout,  but I wouldn’t change our life for anything in this world. Life is such a roller coaster but motherhood is mostly like a roller coaster in the dark while balancing on one foot. Sometimes you have no idea whats gunna hit cha. There’s ups and downs, back-sets and catalysts, there’s so many giggles and so many tears. {mostly happy ones} So every year I vow to take family pictures, even when they in their teens and its not longer ‘cool’ to be seen on mom’s blog. My heart is so full and Aga captures where we are in our life so beautifully. I mean that sincerely. You can tell in the pictures. Poor Ellie was so over it by the end but Aga went at her pace and we got some really awesome candid shots. We also had to bribe the kids to stand still toward the end. You can see them staring at each other smirking cuz mom and dad let them have candy while we took pictures. We finished the day off with some Mexican food, good conversation & a trip to the toy store. Hope you enjoy our family portraits {and VLOG}. Continue reading Perfectly Imperfect Family Portraits

Vlog Happy

We vlog for many reasons… to connect with our family in other countries. Tony is from New Zealand, I am from Cali. We have family in other states, other countries and some just down the street. When I was little my parents tried to tape my 1st everything and birthdays, etc… Back then it was a chore to whip out that 10 lb video camera. Now-a-days, it’s simple. I have a phone & camera in my purse at all times. So why not put those little guys to work. We share our lives through our camera lens so everyone can feel apart of our sweet little life.  Here are some of my newest vlogs. I would love it if you would subscribe, cheers! xo Continue reading Vlog Happy

Whimsical Birthday Party

Ellie turned 1 this month. Honestly, this little one never stops amazing me. She says so many little words now, not only walks but pretty much runs after her big bro, she is always giggling, man… I love her so much. Any who…enough bragging. Her 1st birthday was a smashing success. I loved putting together this ultra girly whimsical party. I chose a black, white, gold & pink theme. Obviously I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration. I found a TON. If time {& money} would have allowed I would have had an even bigger more spectacular party. BUT, here’s the turn out. If you want a funky/whimsical girly shindig, here’s some inspo for ya. Every party needs, balloons, party favors & a delicious cake.

Every party NEEDS these awesome gold lettered balloons. {I found mine on amazon} I ordered a “O” “N” “E” “1” to spell out ONE, obviously, and use the number for her cake smashing.

I hope you guys find some inspo from my sweet baby girls birthday party. Link your party ideas below so I can check them out.

M A T E R I A L S

  • little mason jars
  • gorilla glue
  • a damp towel or a little bowl of water
  • tiny toys/animals
  • spray paint
  • variation: try with toy soldiers, trains, legos, play rings, etc…

D I R E C T I O N S

  1. Unscrew the tops of the mason jars and set the lids on a covered surface, I like to do this outside on an old piece of wood.
  2. Take your tiny toy or animal figure and damp the bottom surface (the part that you will glue)
  3. Apply the gorilla glue to the damp surface. (You can use any type of glue, but if you use gorilla glue you will have to make sure the surface is damp in order to activate the glue, per the instructions)
  4. Place the figure on the center of the lid. Let rest for 2-3 hours while glue dries.
  5. Once the glue is dry, place all the lids in a line and spray paint. (tip: You will get the best result if you use short sweeping motions as your spray paint)
  6. Let dry for a few hours. When they are dry…
  7. Fill the mason jars with fun cereal/candy/toys, etc… screw on lid and PARTY!

This was the easiest little project which is great if you are new to the whole DIY world. Stay tuned for more party DIY’S & pictures of Ellie’s 1st Birthday Bash.

I came across this company called MakeSpace. They are  an on demand self storage service. You know what that means? No annoying trips to the storage unit and more time for the stuff that really matters. They pick up, store and bring back your stuff! Through the use of their app, you can tell them to bring you whatever you need out of storage! Heavenly Banana Bread

My family is banana crazy. Banana in our protein shakes, banana yogurt, banana on ice cream, banana on everything BUT our favorite is banana bread. {Which we call “Banana Cake” in our house} Since this recipe doesn’t need yeast, I guess it is more of a cake. BUT it taste like the most heavenly banana bread you ever did taste. Our son is allergic to soy, coconut and nuts. So I am forced to make a lot of things at home, which is better for us anyway. This recipe is so simple & if you use all organic ingredients then you can feel a little less guilty about eating a whole loaf in two days.

I N G R E D I E N T S

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4  super ripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon table salt

D I R E C T I O N S

  1. Preheat the over to 325º F. Then butter a 9 x 5 x 3″ loaf pan .
  2. Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, mash the bananas with a masher or fork. Then mix in the milk and cinnamon. Set aside.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  6. Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until combined. Add dry ingredients, mixing just until flour disappears.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean. Remove bread from pan, invert onto rack and cool completely before slicing. Set aside to cool on a rack for 15 minutes.
  8. Enjoy!

This recipe is from Food Network… I love using this site as my cookbook. So many great recipes. The only thing I change in the recipe; I add more banana & I take out my bread when the center is still a little wet. We like our banana bread moist, not dry. Then we pan fry it so the outside gets a little toasty.

When it’s just about done, the smell fills the house. Levi always goes, “Mommy! Banana cake Banana Cake!!!” and as soon as it comes out of the oven I slice it up and hand it out. And I’m always wishing I made two loafs. This bread is so yum. Give it a go and let me know if you liked it! Happy Baking!
